Meet the Team

Edward Williams

Edward enjoys caring for women on their pregnancy journey. He provides continuity of care and support women’s choices in pregnancy, labour and birth. The women he cares for describe him as kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled.

After moving to New Zealand in 2000, he continued to work and train further in New Zealand’s major centers in the lower North Island. He received his basic Medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. He was a General Practitioner in Cape Town in a busy solo practice during the early 1990’s. He commenced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the late 1990’s. Edward joined the staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Taranaki Base Hospital in 2013 and established a reputation as a caring, kind, knowledgeable and diligent member of the department.

His Obstetric interests are High-Risk Obstetrics and Multiple Pregnancies. During his time at Taranaki Base Hospital, he managed most of the multiple pregnancies in the Antenatal Clinics.

Edward is a Certified Colposcopist and was Lead Colposcopist at Taranaki Base Hospital from 2013 to 2018. He is a member of the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) and maintain clinical skills and keep his knowledge up to date. He is doing a Colposcopy Clinic at Taranaki base Hospital every fortnight.

With a special interest in Vulvovaginal Disease and Menopause, Edward is proud to offer a dedicated clinic in Vulval Disease at his Powderham Rooms. He has memberships of both The Menopause Society (previously North American Menopause Society -NAMS) and the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD).

Edward has always been passionate about teaching. He was involved in undergraduate teaching at the Wellington School of Medicine between 2002 and 2011. When Taranaki Base hospital became a satellite teaching center for Auckland University Medical School in 2015, Edward was appointed Clinical Supervisor for Year 6 Medical students in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Later, he took over the Clinical Supervisor role for the year 5 Medical students.

He pursued further postgraduate studies in Clinical Education in 2015 through The University of Edinburgh.

Rachel Goodin
Midwife

My name is Rachel, I am from Taranaki and have four adult children and a nanny to three.

I have been a Midwife since 2002 working in New Zealand and Australia.

It is a privilege to provide care and support to new families through the journey to becoming parents. I want women to feel supported and empowered in their experience.

I look forward to meeting you and your family on this special journey.

Keryn Satherley
Midwife

Hi my name is Keryn, I am originally from Hamilton but have made Taranaki my home.

I love the sea and mountain; its a pretty special place. I’m also a mum to a grown adult daughter.

I have been a midwife for 11 years mainly working core (hospital) midwifery. Its always an honor working with women during pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period, helping women and her partner to make choices throughout the journey to becoming parents.

I look forward to walking alongside you and your family during this special time.

Born and raised in Taranaki, my husband and I have recently returned after 8 years away.

I have been a nurse for the past 10 years, in between raising four little boys.

I am a lover of the ocean, flowers, travel and interior design.
